Payments · question
Are credit card payments included in PTRS?
Quick answer
Credit card payments can be excluded in some circumstances, but they are not automatically excluded simply because a credit card was used.
What does this mean?
A reporting entity may exclude a credit card payment if the payment is less than $100 including GST, or if the card is subject to a genuinely enforced internal policy that prohibits its use for trade credit arrangements. A policy that prohibits payment of invoices by credit card, or restricts cards to point-of-sale transactions and prepayments, will generally support the exclusion.
Practical point
Do not remove every credit card transaction from the dataset. The $100 exclusion can be applied directly, but higher-value payments need to be assessed against the relevant credit card policy before being excluded.
